Rawalpindi, January 15, 2026 — Pakistan’s security forces killed 13 militants belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna Al Khwarij during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to ISPR, the operations were carried out on January 13 and 14, 2026, following confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the Bannu and Kurram districts.
In the first operation, security forces conducted an IBO in Bannu District, where troops effectively engaged a militant hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, eight militants were killed, ISPR stated.
A second intelligence-based operation was conducted in Kurram District, where security personnel engaged another militant group. During the ensuing firefight, five militants were neutralised, bringing the total number killed to thirteen.
ISPR said sanitisation operations are underway in both areas to ensure the elimination of any remaining militants. The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to sustaining a robust counterterrorism campaign under the national vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
The military said operations against foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism will continue at full pace to ensure lasting peace and security across the country.
