QUETTA: Another coal miner’s body was found on Tuesday in Sanjidi coal mine near Quetta during a search operation after 11 bodies were found earlier, said Superintendent of Mines Abdul Ghani. Due to gas filling, an explosion occurred in the coal mine on January 9, which led to its collapse. “At least 12 coal mines were trapped after a coal mine collapsed following a gas explosion,” Ghani said. Earlier on Sunday, the death toll rose to 11 after rescuers found seven more bodies of coal miners who were among those trapped inside the mine in the Sanjidi area. The miners were trapped at a depth of 4,000 feet, The News reported, citing Deputy Director of Rescue Asghar Jamali. In addition, after the end of the search operation, the coal mine was sealed according to the chief mine inspector. It is important to note that a court of inquiry has been formed to investigate the incident. “The court of inquiry will complete the investigation within 15 days and submit a report,” added Ghani. Based on this report, the persons responsible for the incident will be identified On Sunday, in connection with the explosion in the mine, a criminal complaint was registered against the owner and management of the coal mines. Hina police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) on January 9 on the complaint of Mines Department Inspector Abdur Rashid. Sheikh Abdul Aziz, son of Sheikh Abdul Latif, and Hayat Khan, son of Haji Amir, of the United Mines Company, were nominated. The FIR contains sections 322 and 34.
