ISLAMABAD: Avoiding an unnecessary trial and politicizing the judiciary, the Supreme Court rejected a petition to transfer the PTI founder from Adyala Jail to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and imposed a $20,000 fine on the petitioner.
The seven constitutional judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) headed by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan heard the matter in the main bench on Tuesday. Other party members include Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghanistan, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Shaheed Bilal Hasan.
The court dismissed the petition as unnecessary and frivolous and imposed a fine of $20,000 on the petitioner, Mr. Abdul Qayyum Khan, an ordinary citizen.
The petitioner contended that he had approached the Supreme Court and pleaded the national interest before the court.
“You have nothing to do with this matter,” said Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan.
Justice Jamal Mandokhail asked the petitioner to go to Parliament and serve the people as it is related to politics. Addressing the petition, Judge Musarrat Hilali said, “I will see you later.”
