Islamabad: The Social Cooperation Initiative (SCI) and the Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA) on January 30, 2026 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in humanitarian assistance, social development and community empowerment initiatives in Pakistan.
The agreement formalises a partnership aimed at supporting vulnerable segments of society, including women, children and marginalised communities, with a focus on improving access to essential services and strengthening social welfare programmes.

Under the MoU, both organisations will collaborate on initiatives related to poverty alleviation, sustainable development and community-centred interventions, with an emphasis on transparency and accountability.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sajjad Hussain Malik, Chief Executive Officer of SCI, said the partnership would help expand outreach and improve programme impact. He said the collaboration would focus on health, education and social development initiatives aimed at addressing community needs.
Fazal Ur Rehman, Country Director of ZFA, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering communities and delivering timely support to those most in need. He added that working together would help enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts.
Officials said the MoU marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between SCI and ZFA, aimed at strengthening coordinated responses to social and humanitarian challenges across Pakistan.
