Saudi Arabia Ends 22-Year Wait to Win Gulf Cup Title

Saudi Arabia ended a 22-year wait for the Gulf Cup title, defeating the United Arab Emirates 2-0 in the final of the 27th edition of the tournament.

The final was played at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, where the hosts made an impressive start and took control of the match early on.

Saudi Arabia opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Hammam Al-Hammami struck from outside the penalty area. His effort took a deflection off an opposing player before finding the back of the net, sparking celebrations inside the stadium.

The Saudi side continued to press for control as the match progressed, while the UAE looked for opportunities to respond.

In the second half, Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais produced a series of impressive saves to deny the UAE and preserve his side’s advantage.

Saudi Arabia eventually secured a 2-0 victory to lift the Gulf Cup trophy and celebrate their first title in 22 years.
