LAHORE, June 4: Former Pakistani television actress Sarah Chaudhry has spoken publicly about her divorce and personal life, addressing questions about why her marriage ended despite her decision to leave the entertainment industry and adopt a more religious lifestyle.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Sarah Chaudhry discussed common assumptions surrounding faith, marriage and divorce, saying that personal hardships can affect anyone regardless of their level of religious commitment.
The former actress said many people question why she experienced divorce after leaving showbiz and making significant changes in her life. However, she emphasized that life events unfold according to divine will and that religious devotion does not guarantee a life free from challenges.
Divorce remains part of life, she says
Sarah Chaudhry noted that while Islam encourages reconciliation and views divorce as an undesirable outcome, it remains a reality that cannot be entirely eliminated from society.
According to her, it is incorrect to assume that deeply religious individuals are immune to marital difficulties or separation. She said every relationship involves strengths and weaknesses, and some outcomes become part of a person’s destiny.
Efforts made to save the marriage
The former actress stated that she made every effort to preserve her marriage. However, when both parties concluded that continuing the relationship was no longer possible, they mutually agreed to separate.
When asked whether she regretted any of her life decisions, Sarah Chaudhry said her religious beliefs had changed the way she views difficult experiences.
She explained that she believes whatever happens is part of God’s plan and ultimately serves a greater purpose, which has helped her move beyond feelings of regret.
From television success to a different path
Sarah Chaudhry entered Pakistan’s entertainment industry in 2002 and gained recognition through the PTV drama serial Chokhat. She later appeared in several television productions before leaving showbiz in 2010 to focus on religious activities.
She has been married for around 15 years and is the mother of five children.
Her recent remarks have attracted attention online, sparking discussions about marriage, faith and personal choices in public life.
