Salman Ali Agha returned to form with a brilliant century against Sri Lanka, but it was his unusual celebration that caught the attention of cricket fans.

Some fans speculated that the celebration was a response to his removal from the T20I captaincy and exclusion from the Test squad. However, Agha revealed after the match that the gesture had a much more personal meaning.

Celebration Was for His Son

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Salman Ali Agha said the celebration was dedicated to his son.

The Pakistan batter explained that his son often celebrates in the same manner while watching cricket on television, prompting Agha to replicate the gesture after reaching his century.

Agha Returns With Fastest ODI Century

Agha scored 107 runs off 90 balls against Sri Lanka in the opening match of the tri-nation series, hitting 10 fours and one six.

He reached his fourth ODI century in just 82 balls, making it the fastest ODI hundred of his career.

The century marked an impressive return for Agha after a difficult period in Pakistan cricket.

Domestic Cricket Provided a Platform

Agha was among seven players recalled by the Pakistan Cricket Board in August 2026 after Pakistan suffered a 194-run defeat against England in the second Test at Lord’s in London.

During that challenging period, Agha turned to domestic cricket and produced a remarkable performance in the President’s Trophy Grade-I, scoring an unbeaten 300.

His latest century against Sri Lanka has now provided another significant boost as he continues his international comeback.
