PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has alleged that recent political negotiations were deliberately derailed and that a misleading narrative was created to explain their failure.

Speaking to journalists in Peshawar on Thursday, October 22, Raja said the party’s decision to proceed with its planned long march remained unchanged despite the breakdown of negotiations.

He claimed that the chief minister and the speaker had been made to disappear, while members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies were also being picked up.

Raja accused unnamed elements of deliberately obstructing the dialogue process and presenting an inaccurate account of why the negotiations had failed.

The PTI secretary general also announced plans to convene an all-parties conference within the next 10 days as part of efforts to engage other political forces.

He said contacts were underway with several major political parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Referring to the opposition leadership, Raja maintained that Mahmood Khan Achakzai was the leader of the opposition nominated by PTI founder Imran Khan.

His remarks come amid continuing political tensions following the failure of negotiations, with PTI maintaining its decision to hold a long march while seeking broader political consultations.

The allegations concerning the disappearance of political officeholders and the detention of lawmakers could not be independently verified from the information provided.
