LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday named top batsman Sahibzad Farhan as the captain of Pakistan Shaheens for two four-day matches against Bangladesh A in Darwin, Australia, to be held this month.
The Pakistan Shaheens are also scheduled to play two 50-over matches and a nine-team T20 tournament in Darwin as part of the tour. The captain for the white ball series will be announced in due course.
Right-arm all-rounder Qasim Akram replaced him.
The Pakistan Shaheens team will leave for Australia in the early hours of Saturday via Dubai.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had earlier confirmed that the Pakistan Shaheens pre-season fitness and training camp and training camp will be held at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Center in Karachi.
25 cricketers participated in the pre-season camp from 24th June to 7th July. The unit was reduced to a 15-man squad of Pakistan Shaheens who attended a training camp from 8 to 13 July to prepare for the trip to Darwin.
“Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie will oversee the Pakistan Shaheens training camp from July 8-13 and will also travel to Darwin as the team’s head coach. He will return to Pakistan after the second four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’, which ends on July 29, to take charge as the head coach of the national side.
“The pre-season fitness and training camp will be overseen by Mohammad Masroor, who will also travel to Darwin as an assistant coach.
