RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan has broken Indian batter Abhishek Sharma’s record for the most runs scored in a three-match T20 International series between two Full Member teams.
Farhan achieved the milestone during Pakistan’s third and final T20I against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, capping an outstanding performance in his first home series as Pakistan’s permanent T20 captain.
The 30-year-old batter scored 238 runs across the three matches at an average of 79.33 and a strike rate of 165.27. He was subsequently named Player of the Series after registering three consecutive half-centuries.
Farhan surpassed Abhishek Sharma’s previous record of 229 runs, which the Indian batter had scored in a three-match home T20I series against Afghanistan earlier in 2026.
Farhan’s Consistent Performance
Farhan began the series with a match-winning innings of 89 off 53 balls, helping Pakistan chase down Sri Lanka’s target of 183 with four wickets to spare.
In the second match, he continued his impressive form, scoring 73 off just 44 deliveries. His contribution helped Pakistan post 215 for 3, before Sri Lanka were restricted to 133 for 7 in their 20 overs. Pakistan secured a commanding victory to take an unassailable lead in the series.
Farhan scored another valuable 76 off 47 balls in the final match, helping Pakistan reach 168. However, Sri Lanka bounced back in the final encounter, chasing the target with eight wickets in hand to claim their only victory of the series.
Despite the final-match defeat, Pakistan won the three-match series 2-1.
Farhan’s record-breaking performance underlined his consistency throughout the series and earned him individual recognition, while Pakistan finished the contest with a series victory.
