Chakwal ( Samandar Khan): In an inspiring display of youth leadership and community spirit, young athlete students from Chakwal have established the Rural Sports Equity Club, a grassroots initiative aimed at promoting sports and ensuring equal opportunities for players from rural areas.
The initiative, spearheaded by Abdul Muizz, along with other young students and sports enthusiasts, seeks to bridge the widening gap between urban and rural sporting resources. The club envisions a system where talent and commitment, rather than privilege, define success.
“Our mission is centered around three core principles: equal access, sports development, and positive youth engagement,” said Muizz, outlining the club’s vision for an inclusive and thriving local sports culture.
As part of its founding activities, the club successfully organized its first major event, the “Chakwal Smash League 2025”, held on October 17 at the Gymnasium Hall, Chakwal. The tournament drew enthusiastic participation from young athletes, sports fans, and members of the local community, marking a promising start for the fledgling organization.
The event’s organizing team — comprising Abdul Muizz, Muhammad Hadi Hussain, and Abdullah Abbas — managed all aspects of the event. Their professionalism and teamwork underscored the spirit of dedication and self-reliance that the club seeks to instill in the youth.
Renowned sports personality Tehzeeb Haider Maingan served as a mentor for the young organizers, providing guidance, motivation, and on-ground support throughout the event. His mentorship proved instrumental in transforming the league into a well-structured and competitive event.
The Rural Sports Equity Club initiative also received commendable support from the local business community. Wasif Mahmood, owner of Al-Saliha Pharmacy (Talagang Road), and Kashi Kahoot Murid, a well-known tape-ball cricket sponsor, attended the event as chief guests. Their presence and encouragement underscored the growing recognition of youth-led efforts in promoting healthy, community-oriented activities.
Both guests lauded the commitment of the young organizers, emphasizing that such grassroots ventures play a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s sporting ecosystem. They urged local authorities and educational institutions to extend their support to similar initiatives, ensuring that rural athletes have the resources and opportunities needed to excel.
The Rural Sports Equity Club now aims to expand its reach by organizing more inter-village and inter-district tournaments, talent camps, and awareness drives across Chakwal and adjoining regions, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable sporting future.
