KHYBER: Although tribesmen played an important part in the country’s independence and growth, rulers have disregarded them during the last seven decades.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan told local media on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the conference hall in Landi Kotal press club, district Khyber, last day that tribal people have made unparalleled sacrifices for their motherland, but they are still denied basic rights.
Promises made at the time of merger cannot be fulfilled till now, which is a deceit of rulers and a purposeful effort to keep them underprivileged, he said.
He went on to say that in modern times, the tribal wished to have potable water, which raised a question mark.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, flanked by district Khyber Jamaat-e-Islami leadership, informed the tribal that if JI candidates are elected in the upcoming general election, they will address the locals’ plight.
He advised local journalists to focus their efforts in the best interests of the people.
In response to a question, he stated that it was the Election Commission of Pakistan’s responsibility to provide free and fair elections because voting was the only answer to the challenges that residents faced.
