ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid paid tribute to former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on his death anniversary, highlighting his political, constitutional and public service contributions.
In her message, she said Bhutto’s execution remains a tragic chapter in Pakistan’s history and described it as a result of judicial injustice. She noted that Bhutto played a key role in giving Pakistan a unanimous Constitution, strengthening democratic institutions and laying the foundation for the country’s nuclear programme.
Rubina Khalid said Bhutto introduced political and constitutional reforms that expanded public awareness and rights, while his foreign policy helped establish Pakistan’s presence on the global stage.
She added that Bhutto consistently advocated for the rights of the poor and middle class and for the supremacy of democracy, stating that his political philosophy continues to guide the Pakistan Peoples Party.
According to her, the Benazir Income Support Programme reflects Bhutto’s vision of public welfare, and the government remains committed to carrying forward his mission and democratic legacy.
