Bahawalpur — Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bahawalpur Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin has dismissed a sub-inspector over the illegal detention and custodial death of a citizen, reaffirming that protection of citizens’ rights and departmental discipline remain key priorities.
The decision was taken during an “Ardle Room” session held at the RPO office to review pending appeals, show-cause notices, and disciplinary matters aimed at strengthening internal accountability within the police force.
Sub-inspector dismissed
According to official proceedings, Sub-Inspector Matloob Hussain from Rahim Yar Khan was removed from service after being found responsible for illegally detaining a citizen, subjecting them to torture, and causing their death in custody.
RPO Salahuddin emphasized that strict action will be taken against officials involved in misconduct or violations of citizens’ rights, underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order alongside professional standards.
Appeals reviewed, officials reinstated
During the session, appeals of previously dismissed personnel were also examined. Two constables, Danish Naeem and Muhammad Momin, were reinstated, while the appeal of another constable was rejected.
Additionally, Traffic Police Sub-Inspector Sajjad Hussain and Constable Zaheeruddin were reinstated. Their case has been referred to the Regional Traffic Officer for further inquiry.
Officials said the disciplinary review process is intended to ensure accountability, transparency, and consistent enforcement of departmental rules across the region.
