SWAT: A gang of robbers posing as police took a family hostage and looted gold worth lakhs of rupees and Rs. 3.5 lakh last night at Malkedam area of Barikot tehsil of Swat district. Police officials confirmed.
According to the FIR registered at the Ghalegay police station, 5 armed masked men entered the house of Ali Rehman, a resident of Buner District, present Malikdam, late last night and, posing as police officers, took the family hostage at gunpoint and escaped with 5 tolas of gold and Rs. 3.5 lakh in cash.
“Ali Rehman, and his wife were also tortured.”
According to police officials, the victim, Ali Rehman, told the police that he had tricked the accused by using the excuse of urinating and managed to escape and called out to the neighbors.After which the unknown robbers managed to escape.
The Ghalegay police have registered a case under Section 392 PPC against five people, including two named accused, and have started an investigation.
