Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has asked the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to return his mobile phone and formally clarify the nature of the investigation involving him.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Rizwan has written to the NCCIA seeking implementation of a recent Lahore High Court order and requesting details about the inquiry.
Rizwan said he has not yet been formally informed about the specific nature of the investigation. He also requested that the agency provide written details of the matter under investigation and inform him when he is required to appear before officials.
The mobile phone in question was taken from Rizwan in England on August 31. According to his account, he was told that the device would be returned within three hours, but several weeks have passed without its return.
The Lahore High Court had rejected Rizwan’s petition around two weeks ago and directed him to cooperate with the investigation. At the same time, the court instructed the agency to avoid unnecessary harassment or inconvenience to the cricketer.
In his letter, Rizwan said he has cooperated with the investigation, including providing his phone password and other assistance requested by the authorities.
He has now asked the NCCIA to return the device and clearly communicate the scope of the investigation and the date on which he is required to appear.
