ISLAMABAD: Riphah International University and the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen Pakistan-China cooperation in medical education, research, clinical training and professional development.
The MoU was signed on September 30, 2026, by Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Riphah International University, and Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, President, CPMA.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on medical research, clinical training, academic exchanges and the development of students and faculty.
As part of the partnership, the CPMA Pakistan Chapter will be established at Riphah International University, with Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan appointed as its Head and General Secretary of CPMA.
The initiative is aimed at expanding opportunities for Pakistani students, researchers and healthcare professionals through knowledge-sharing, joint research and greater clinical exposure linked to academic and professional cooperation with China.
Riphah International University said the partnership would also support healthcare capacity-building and strengthen bilateral institutional links in the medical and education sectors.
The signing ceremony coincided with the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of CPMA.
The collaboration also builds on institutional ties developed during the recent official visit of Riphah International University Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan to China.
Medical specialists, dignitaries, faculty members and students attended the ceremony.
Through the MoU, Riphah International University and CPMA aim to strengthen long-term cooperation in medical education, research, clinical training and healthcare capacity-building.
