Ricky Martin to perform at ICC T20 World Cup closing ceremony in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD — The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that global pop star Ricky Martin will perform at the closing ceremony of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ahead of the tournament’s final on March 8 in Ahmedabad.

According to the ICC, the ceremony will take place before the championship match between India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team, bringing entertainment and international music to the conclusion of the global cricket event.

Player of the tournament nominees announced

Alongside the closing ceremony announcement, the ICC also released the shortlist for the Player of the Tournament award, highlighting standout performers from the competition.

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is among the nominees after delivering one of the tournament’s most consistent batting performances. The opener scored 383 runs in seven matches at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25.

Farhan’s campaign included centuries against Sri Lanka and Namibia, making him the only batter to score two hundreds in a single edition of the tournament.

Other players nominated for the award include Sanju Samson of India, England’s Will Jacks, South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi and Aiden Markram, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Tim Seifert, and United States player Shadley Fen Scolovik.

The ICC said the nominees were selected for their overall impact during the tournament, including contributions with the bat, ball and in the field.
