Former Indian cricket captain and star batter Virat Kohli’s social media post on November 20 left fans concerned and puzzled.
On Wednesday, Kohli shared a post on the microblogging site X that sparked confusion among fans, wondering whether it hinted at divorce or retirement.
In his post, the star batter wrote, “Looking back, we were always different. We didn’t fit into the mold we were meant to. Two wrongs that made it right.”
The post seemingly reflects on men and how, despite being flawed or facing ups and downs, one can move forward in life without worrying about the world.
Notably, this post came shortly after Indian singer and musician A.R. Rahman and his wife Saira Banu announced their separation. Many social media users connected Kohli’s post to divorce.
One user commented, “I almost had a heart attack,” while another asked, “Are you retiring?”
A user named Sneha wrote, “Why does this post feel like someone announcing their divorce?” Kartik said, “Honestly, I panicked reading this. I thought it was a retirement announcement. My heart skipped a beat, but I’m relieved it was just an ad.”
Veena Jair commented, “Yesterday it was A.R. Rahman, and today this. Why?” Shiva remarked, “Thank goodness it wasn’t about divorce.”
According to Indian media, fans were deeply concerned after reading the post, but it was later clarified that it was merely part of a promotional campaign for a brand.
