Rescue 1122 Shangla has completed its monsoon emergency preparedness plan and intensified rescue operations across the district as authorities brace for heavy rainfall and the risk of flash floods.
The emergency service has recovered vehicles involved in three separate road accidents, continued search operations in the Indus River and launched public awareness campaigns to help residents reduce risks during the ongoing monsoon season.
Vehicles Recovered From Three Accident Sites
According to Rescue 1122 Shangla, separate road accidents occurred in Yakhtange, Shangla Top and Badah Gatta Bele Baba, where vehicles skidded off roads and fell down steep slopes.
Emergency response teams, equipped with heavy recovery vehicles and specialized equipment, reached the sites after receiving emergency calls. The damaged vehicles were safely recovered, and traffic was restored after safety measures were completed.
Water Rescue Camps Set Up
On the instructions of District Emergency Officer Engineer Malik Sher Dil Khan, Rescue 1122 has established temporary water rescue camps at vulnerable locations, including rivers, streams and along the banks of the Indus River (Abaseen).
Rescue teams equipped with boats, life jackets and other emergency equipment have been placed on high alert to respond quickly to any flood-related incident during the monsoon.
Search Operation Continues in Indus River
Rescue 1122 is also continuing its search operation for individuals reportedly swept away in the Indus River.
Specialized water rescue personnel are carrying out the operation despite difficult river conditions caused by ongoing rainfall.
Public Urged to Follow Safety Guidelines
Alongside rescue operations, Rescue 1122 teams are conducting daily awareness campaigns in communities located near rivers and flood-prone areas, educating residents about the dangers of flash floods and swollen streams.
The Shangla district administration has already imposed Section 144, banning bathing in rivers, streams and mountain water channels during the monsoon season.
Rescue officials have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, drive carefully on mountainous roads, stay away from floodwaters and immediately call the 1122 emergency helpline in the event of any emergency.
