Rescue 1122 Shangla responds to 273 emergencies in January 2026

SHANGLA: Rescue 1122 Shangla handled 273 emergencies across the district in January, according to a performance report released by District Emergency Officer Engineer Malik Sher Dil Khan. The report highlights the department’s timely response and life-saving interventions during the month.

The emergencies included six road traffic accidents, 131 medical cases, five fire incidents, and one drowning. Rescue teams also recovered 12 vehicles involved in accidents. In addition to on-site assistance, the service facilitated hospital referrals, shifting 118 patients from local hospitals to teaching hospitals for advanced treatment.

Call statistics and preparedness

Rescue 1122’s control room received 15,470 calls in January. Of these, 13,579 were non-emergency, 1,736 were dropped, and 273 were genuine emergencies, all of which were responded to immediately.

The District Emergency Officer said Rescue 1122 Shangla continues to serve the public round the clock under the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and Director General Rescue 1122, Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah. He emphasized that the department remains fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.

Response during snowstorms

Rescue 1122 Shangla’s performance during recent snowstorms drew widespread appreciation. Personnel established relief and assistance camps at Alpuri, Shangla Top, and Board areas, providing support to travelers and pedestrians during heavy snowfall. Public and social figures praised the dedication and professionalism of the young rescue staff who worked under harsh weather conditions.
