Rawalpindi (Crime Reporter) – A Rawalpindi property dispute has exposed alleged corruption within the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA). Officials, in collusion with a powerful land mafia and political figures, allegedly tampered with records to seize a woman’s legally owned house.
The victim claimed that officials altered property documents and harassed her family through false police applications. Moreover, a fabricated FIR at Pirwadhai Police Station led to her husband’s arrest and torture. The goal, she said, was to force him to transfer ownership of their property. Therefore, she has appealed to the Chief Justice of Punjab and the Chief Minister of Punjab for justice.
Detailing her ordeal, Maimoona Malik, wife of Sarfraz Malik, said she legally purchased and transferred House No. 3-A, Sector 4-B, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Rawalpindi, in December 2024. She completed all official requirements through PHATA.
She alleged that Rabia Malik, Malik Abdul Razzaq, and others, backed by political influence, tried to occupy her property. They hired local thugs and used police pressure to threaten her family. Besides physical intimidation, they applied financial and psychological pressure to coerce her into surrendering property worth millions.
Furthermore, Maimoona stated that police wrongfully implicated her husband in an FIR and tortured him in custody. During his imprisonment, she faced repeated threats and was forced to sign away her rights to the house. “For six months, Malik Abdul Razzaq and his accomplices kept me under constant psychological distress while trying to seize my property,” she said.
She also accused PHATA officials of altering ownership records without her knowledge. Specifically, a clerk named Tariq at the PHATA regional office allegedly tampered with the 3-A documents while the case was still in court. In response, she filed a contempt of court case against PHATA in 2024.
Maimoona Malik has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for urgent action. She urged the government to dismantle the nexus between corrupt PHATA officials and the land mafia. Ultimately, she stressed that her right to secure property ownership must be protected. The Rawalpindi property dispute continues to raise serious concerns about institutional integrity and citizen safety.
