RAWALPINDI, September 22, 2026: Rawalpindi district is receiving 37,116 bags of subsidised 10kg flour and 40,092 bags of 20kg fine atta every day, according to District Food Controller Azhar Abbas.
The official shared the figures while speaking to reporters after reviewing flour availability and supply arrangements in the markets of Taxila and Wah Cantonment.
The combined daily supply of the two categories stands at 77,208 bags, with authorities monitoring distribution through designated retail and commercial channels.
Subsidised Flour Distribution
Of the 37,116 daily bags of subsidised 10kg flour, 10,850 bags are allocated to tandoors, while 26,266 bags are supplied to retail shops for consumers.
The distribution system provides separate allocations for retail outlets and tandoors, with the latter receiving flour to meet demand for naan and other baked products.
Retail shops receive the larger share of the subsidised flour allocation for household consumers.
Flour Supply Reviewed in Taxila and Wah
Azhar Abbas reviewed the availability and supply position in the markets of Taxila and Wah Cantonment to assess whether flour supplies were reaching the designated outlets.
Food authorities are monitoring the movement and distribution of flour across the district, with retail shops and tandoors serving as the main distribution points for subsidised 10kg flour.
According to the department’s figures, the additional daily supply of 40,092 bags of 20kg fine atta brings the total distribution across both categories to 77,208 bags.
Authorities are continuing to monitor market availability and the movement of flour to ensure supplies reach designated retail and commercial outlets.
