LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan met a delegation of the Depalpur Bar Association on Tuesday, where issues related to judicial infrastructure and facilities for lawyers were discussed. The meeting focused on the shortage of chambers and limited resources at the Judicial Complex, affecting legal practitioners in the area.
The delegation, led by President Mian Muhammad Ahmad Wattoo, urged the government to increase the number of chambers to accommodate around 1,700 practicing lawyers in Depalpur Tehsil. Officials present said the concerns highlight broader challenges faced by the legal community in accessing adequate working conditions.
Concerns over infrastructure and resources
During the meeting, bar representatives pointed to the lack of basic facilities and insufficient funding, which they said were hindering professional work. They requested immediate steps to expand infrastructure and improve the working environment at the Judicial Complex.

In response, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan directed relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan addressing the identified issues. He said the government is prioritizing measures to support the legal fraternity and improve access to facilities.
Govt plans phased improvements
The minister said efforts are underway to strengthen coordination between the bar and the bench to ensure timely delivery of justice. He added that improving judicial infrastructure, including provision of chambers and funds, remains a key priority.
Officials indicated that phased steps will be taken to address the concerns, with available resources being utilized to resolve the issues raised by the Depalpur Bar.
The delegation appreciated the minister’s response and invited him to visit Depalpur, which he accepted, assuring a visit in the near future.
