Lower Dir: Severe cold conditions gripped Lower Dir after rain and snowfall were reported across the district, including the Talash Valley, following a sudden change in weather on Thursday.

Snowfall was recorded on the high mountains of Shahi, Khadang, Khonko, Ladram, and Deolai, where peaks were soon covered with a white blanket of snow. The cold wave and frost further intensified the chilly conditions across the region.

In view of the changing weather, the Lower Dir district administration has already issued a high alert based on forecasts from the National Disaster Management Authority. Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures to avoid potential risks associated with heavy rainfall, snowfall, and extreme cold.

Officials warned of the possibility of increased water flow in rivers and canals, as well as difficult travel conditions in mountainous areas due to snowfall. The district administration urged the public, especially those living in high-altitude and vulnerable areas, to remain vigilant and cooperate with local authorities during the cold spell.

Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel to snow-covered regions and to follow safety guidelines issued by disaster management authorities to prevent any untoward incidents.
