Indian actor and Bigg Boss season one winner Rahul Roy has revealed that he performs at weddings and earns between INR 200,000 and INR 400,000 from such appearances as he works to rebuild his finances and career.

Speaking to Indian media, Roy said a brain stroke in 2020 significantly affected his professional and financial life. He added that he has no embarrassment about performing at private wedding events because he needs income to meet his expenses.

‘I did whatever I could’

Addressing criticism over videos of him dancing at weddings, Roy said people who troll him do not know the financial challenges he has faced since his stroke.

He explained that recovering from the stroke made it difficult for him to work consistently, with much of the past few years spent focusing on his recovery. As a result, he was unable to take on as much work as he wanted.

Roy said he earns around INR 200,000 to INR 400,000 by performing at weddings and has been doing what he can to support himself.

Roy speaks about rebuilding his finances

The actor also discussed financial difficulties linked to a legal dispute involving his brother over INR 3 million and his financial circumstances following his divorce.

According to Roy, he transferred his assets to his former wife during their separation. He said he is now working to improve his financial position and rebuild what he described as his “empire” at the age of 60.

Roy’s career was also affected by his 2020 brain stroke, after which he faced challenges in returning to regular professional work.
