RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 19 militants in separate operations in Balochistan, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
According to ISPR, intelligence agencies reported the presence of multiple hideouts of what it described as Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khawarij and Fitna Al Hindustan in the Shaban area of Quetta district.
Security forces launched a clearance operation in the area on September 21 to protect the local population and eliminate the reported terrorist threat.
During the operation, troops engaged and cleared multiple hideouts following an intense exchange of fire. ISPR said 13 militants were killed, while weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the cleared positions.
The clearance operation remains underway, with security forces continuing efforts to eliminate the remaining threat in the area.
Six Militants Killed in Separate Operations
In separate intelligence-based operations conducted on September 22 and 23 in Kech and Quetta West districts, security forces also engaged militants.
ISPR said six militants were killed following exchanges of fire during the operations. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
During one of the engagements, Subedar Muhammad Jamil, 39, a resident of Taunsa Sharif, District Dera Ghazi Khan, was killed in the line of duty, according to ISPR.
The military described him as having made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the counter-terrorism operation.
Counter-Terrorism Operations Continue
ISPR said the counter-terrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue.
The military said security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain committed to countering what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism across the country.
