ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday formally launched the commemorations marking Quaid-e-Azam’s 150th birth anniversary at an event held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, marking the start of a year-long programme of activities related to the anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Attendance at the Launch Event
The event was attended by federal ministers, political figures, academics, youth representatives, and members of civil society. Among those present were Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting; Tariq Fatimi; and Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar.
Public figures from the media and entertainment sector, including Ahsan Khan and Sarwat Gilani, also attended the ceremony.
Proceedings of the Ceremony
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. A documentary outlining key phases of founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s political career and leadership was screened during the event.
The ceremony also included a musical presentation titled “URAAN Pakistan” and a video compilation featuring messages from young participants reflecting on Quaid-e-Azam’s principles and ideas.
Discussion on Quaid-e-Azam’s Political Thought
A panel discussion with scholars focused on Quaid-e-Azam’s political vision, constitutional ideas, and leadership during the independence movement. Speakers discussed the continued relevance of his principles, including unity, faith, and discipline, in the present national context.
Selected statements attributed to Quaid-e-Azam were read during the event, highlighting his views on governance, constitutionalism, and national responsibility.
Remarks by Federal Ministers
Addressing the gathering, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar spoke on the role of media, education, and cultural platforms in preserving historical narratives related to Quaid-e-Azam and the independence movement.
In his concluding address, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal announced that the launch marked the beginning of a year-long series of official events, discussions, and public engagements across the country to mark Quaid-e-Azam’s 150th birth anniversary. He said the activities would focus on public awareness, policy dialogue, and national reflection linked to Quaid-e-Azam’s ideas.
Year-Long Commemorations Planned
According to officials, the commemorations will continue throughout the year, involving educational institutions, government departments, and public forums, with the stated aim of revisiting Quaid-e-Azam’s role in Pakistan’s founding and his views on governance and national development.
