ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Qatari investors are keen to explore new avenues of collaboration in Pakistan under the government’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, who is visiting Pakistan to co-chair the 6th Session of the Pakistan–Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Qatar relations, rooted in shared faith, mutual respect, and strong bilateral cooperation. He appreciated Qatar’s role as an important partner and a key regional mediator.
Highlighting Pakistan’s investor-friendly environment, the Prime Minister emphasized the vast potential for enhanced trade and investment in sectors such as energy, agriculture, food security, information technology, tourism, and infrastructure development. He invited Qatari investors to take advantage of the opportunities being offered under the SIFC, which serves as a one-window platform for facilitating foreign and local investment.
Sheikh Faisal conveyed warm greetings from the Qatari leadership and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to further deepening economic engagement with Pakistan. He noted that the 6th Session of the JMC provided a valuable platform to review ongoing cooperation and identify new initiatives for mutually beneficial partnerships under the SIFC mechanism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for Qatar’s consistent support on regional and global issues and reaffirmed the country’s desire to strengthen collaboration at both regional and multilateral levels.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to translate their shared goals into tangible outcomes, including greater facilitation for business-to-business linkages and joint investment projects within the SIFC framework
