LAHORE, November 2, 2026: The Punjab government has opened registration for the She Threads programme, an employment initiative launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to provide rural women with textile industry training, a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 and job opportunities upon completing the course.

The programme, implemented through the Punjab Women Development Department, initially aims to train and facilitate employment for 1,150 rural women. The chief minister has also set a target of providing textile training to 2,500 women by June.

Under the She Threads initiative, selected participants will receive three months of vocational training designed to prepare them for employment in the textile and garment manufacturing sectors.

The training will cover industrial sewing machine operations and apparel supervision, combining classroom instruction with practical experience to develop skills required by the textile industry.

Training sessions will be conducted at Shahkam Industries on Multan Road near Lahore, where participants will receive hands-on instruction alongside theoretical lessons.

Women enrolled in the programme will receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 throughout their training period. The provincial government has also announced that employment opportunities in the textile industry will be provided after successful completion of the course.

According to the eligibility criteria, applicants must be women aged between 18 and 45, possess a Punjab domicile and have completed matriculation.

Eligible candidates can apply by visiting Shahkam Industries with their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and domicile certificate.

Following initial screening and verification of eligibility, selected applicants will be required to submit an affidavit before admission to the training programme.

Women seeking further information about registration can contact their respective assistant commissioners, union council secretaries or relevant district government offices.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the initiative aims to equip rural women with market-relevant skills, enabling them to secure dignified employment and achieve greater financial independence.

She emphasized that vocational training should be aligned with industry requirements to ensure participants gain practical skills that translate into employment opportunities.

The She Threads programme forms part of the Punjab government’s efforts to expand women’s participation in the workforce by connecting vocational training with employment opportunities in the textile sector.
