LAHORE, October 9, 2026: The Punjab government has decided to introduce a transparent, merit-based system for house jobs and postgraduate training for foreign medical graduates, according to a report by ARY News.
The Punjab Health Department has established a nine-member committee to review the existing procedures for the induction of foreign medical graduates into house jobs and postgraduate training programmes.
The committee includes vice-chancellors of medical universities and principals of medical colleges across the province.
Review of Eligibility and Induction Procedures
The committee will examine the current process for selecting foreign medical graduates and assess whether merit, transparency and uniform standards are being followed.
It will also review the procedures used to verify candidates’ medical degrees, registration, licences and eligibility for training positions.
In addition, the committee will identify administrative and legal gaps in the existing induction system and recommend measures to address them.
Centralised System Under Consideration
The nine-member committee will propose a centralised mechanism covering applications, verification, merit assessment and placement for foreign medical graduates seeking house jobs and postgraduate training in Punjab.
The proposed framework aims to establish consistent procedures and improve transparency in the selection process.
According to the report, the committee has been directed to submit its recommendations to the Punjab Health Department within 10 days.
The recommendations are expected to help the department review existing arrangements and develop a more consistent process for medical graduates seeking training opportunities in the province.
