LAHORE: The Punjab government has temporarily lifted the 8pm market closure restriction across the province, allowing shops, markets, shopping malls, restaurants and food outlets to operate without fixed closing hours until June 1, 2026.

The decision applies across Punjab and is aimed at providing relief to businesses and improving convenience for shoppers, according to officials.

The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) Punjab issued an official notification outlining the revised operating schedule for commercial activities.

Separately, the Lahore district administration also announced the removal of the 8pm closing restriction for markets in the provincial capital.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Ali Anan Qamar said the earlier closing time had been withdrawn with immediate effect, allowing businesses to continue operating for extended hours.

Officials said the temporary relaxation was intended to support traders and facilitate commercial activity across the province.
