LAHORE, May 18: Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan chaired a meeting on issues facing industrial areas of District Kasur, including Phool Nagar and Kot Radha Kishan, with a focus on workers’ rights, social security, job protection and environmental concerns.
The meeting reviewed problems faced by factory workers and local communities in industrial areas. Officials discussed proposals to improve social security facilities, protect employment and ensure that local residents receive job opportunities in factories operating in the district.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan directed the relevant departments to ensure employment opportunities for local residents while safeguarding the rights of workers.
He said the Punjab government was taking practical steps for workers’ welfare, secure employment and improved working conditions. He instructed the Social Security and Labour Departments to provide maximum facilities to workers and adopt an effective strategy for the timely resolution of their complaints.
Pollution and environmental concerns discussed
The meeting also reviewed environmental issues affecting local communities, including pollution caused by factories and its impact on public health and daily life.
The provincial law minister directed the relevant authorities to strictly enforce environmental laws in industrial areas to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents.
He also asked all concerned departments to work in coordination for the protection of workers’ rights, industrial harmony and the resolution of issues faced by local communities.
Officials were directed to regularly update the government on progress made on the matters discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Rana Shahzad, Barrister Afzaal Ahmad Lali, Director Social Security Kasur Ahmed Sher, Deputy Director Social Security Rana Waseem Ahmed, Deputy Director Labour Ishaq Haider, Deputy Director Social Security Phool Nagar Nazia Ghulam and other relevant officials.
