LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan met delegations from the Shorkot and Jhang Bar Associations on Wednesday to discuss challenges faced by lawyers and proposals to improve the judicial system. The meeting focused on infrastructure gaps, case registration concerns, and steps to streamline court operations in Jhang.
Officials said the discussions included plans for establishing a Judicial Complex and District Complex in Jhang, alongside proposals to bring Banking, Labour, and Anti-Corruption Courts under one location to improve access for litigants and lawyers.

Representatives of the bar associations also raised concerns over the registration of cases against lawyers under the Anti-Terrorism Act and urged safeguards to prevent misuse.
Focus on infrastructure and facilities
The law minister said a letter would be sent to the Board of Revenue regarding the establishment of administrative offices. He also assured that funds would be allocated for the expansion and renovation of bar rooms to improve working conditions for lawyers.
He noted that centralizing courts at one location could reduce delays and make the justice system more accessible for the public.
Commitment to legal reforms
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the issues raised by the Shorkot and Jhang bars would be addressed on a priority basis, adding that continued consultation with the legal community is necessary for effective judicial reforms.
He emphasized that ensuring the protection and professional dignity of lawyers remains the government’s responsibility and said steps would be taken to support the legal fraternity.
The meeting was attended by officials from the law department and representatives of the bar associations, including members of the Punjab Bar Council and office-bearers from both districts.
