GUJRAT, March 31: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan met with University of Chenab Deputy Chairman Naveed Akbar to discuss academic reforms and preparations for the upcoming Chenab Literary Festival, focusing on higher education development and youth engagement.

The meeting, held at the Governor House, reviewed collaboration opportunities between public institutions and private universities, as well as the role of higher education in skill development and nation-building.

Focus on education and institutional collaboration

According to details, Naveed Akbar briefed the governor on UChenab’s academic roadmap, highlighting its emphasis on research-based learning and equipping students with modern skills.

The discussion also covered strengthening institutional linkages and expanding the role of private-sector universities in supporting Pakistan’s education system.

Literary festival and youth engagement

A key agenda item was the “First Chenab Literary Festival,” aimed at promoting literature, arts, and intellectual discourse among young people.

Officials said the festival is designed to connect established scholars with students, creating opportunities for dialogue and learning across generations.

Governor Saleem Haider Khan appreciated the university’s academic progress and its community outreach initiatives, noting their role in social development and student engagement beyond classrooms.

He reaffirmed the government’s support for institutions that promote merit and character building, and acknowledged UChenab’s growing presence in the region’s higher education landscape.
