Punjab Budget Announces Major Relief For Honhaar Students

The Punjab government has announced major education and youth development measures in the Punjab Budget 2026-27.

Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba-ur-Rehman, while presenting the budget in the provincial assembly, said the Honhaar Scholarship Program is being expanded to provide more opportunities for talented students in higher education.

Rs15 Billion Proposed For Honhaar Scholarship Program

According to details, Rs15 billion has been proposed for the Honhaar Scholarship Program in the Punjab Budget 2026-27.

The government says the initiative aims to support talented students facing financial difficulties so they can continue higher education.

Rs750 Billion Proposed For Education Sector

The budget proposes a total allocation of Rs750 billion for the education sector.

Government officials said education remains one of the key priorities of the provincial budget, with several projects planned for schools, colleges, and student welfare.

School Meal Program To Continue

The Punjab government has also decided to continue the School Meal Program.

Under the program, milk will be provided to more than 1.1 million students to help improve children’s nutritional needs.

Rs40 Billion For School Infrastructure

The budget allocates Rs40 billion for improving school infrastructure across the province.

The funds will be used to build additional classrooms and restore old school buildings.

244 New IT Labs For Colleges

The Punjab government has also announced the establishment of 244 new IT labs in colleges to provide modern facilities to students.

An amount of Rs6.9 billion has been allocated for the project, which aims to improve students’ access to technology.

Government officials said the Punjab Budget 2026-27 places education, technology, and youth development at the center of provincial planning.
