LAHORE: Punjab is expected to receive its ninth and final spell of monsoon rains from today, with rainfall forecast across much of the province between September 12 and 17, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
A PDMA spokesperson said several districts are likely to receive rain during the latest spell, while authorities have warned of potential urban flooding in major cities and landslides in mountainous areas.
Rain Forecast Across Several Districts
Rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang and Attock, while Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazirabad and Hafizabad may also experience showers.
Other districts included in the forecast are Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab and Noorpur Thal.
The weather system is also expected to bring rain to Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan.
Urban Flooding and Landslide Risks
According to the Director General of PDMA, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad face a risk of urban flooding during the latest spell.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in Murree, the Galiyat region and other mountainous areas could trigger landslides.
Authorities have urged residents and relevant departments to remain alert as the province enters the final forecast spell of the 2026 monsoon season.
