TANK – Civil society members, community elders, and residents widely praised public service in Tank under Deputy Commissioner Tanveer Khan Khattak. His initiatives transformed one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s most neglected and conflict-affected districts.
Locals described Tanveer Khan as a people-friendly administrator. For instance, Umer Khan of Gul Imam, Asmatullah Gomal, Habibullah Mulazai, and Zubair of Ranwal highlighted his efforts to resolve the decades-old drinking water crisis. Notably, clean water now flows through solarized tube wells, newly laid pipelines, and a 120,000-gallon reservoir.
Tanveer Khan ordered investigations into irregularities in the Public Health Engineering Department. The provincial government responded by suspending negligent officials.
In the health sector, his team organized free medical camps across all union councils. Citizens received medical checkups, free medicines, and mobility support. Additionally, his administration distributed over 300 wheelchairs to differently-abled persons and widows. He also delivered flood relief directly to affected families.
Infrastructure development marked another major achievement. Under his supervision, the long-delayed Tank City Road project reached completion. Furthermore, his team rehabilitated roads like Sabir Baba–Langerbai and Umar Adda–Sabir Baba, easing traffic and improving access.
Tanveer Khan also led a bold anti-encroachment drive. His team recovered millions in state land from land mafias. Consequently, they cleared congested markets like Tang Bazar and Daman Chowk, improving traffic flow and public access.
In education, he launched the solarization of schools across Tank city and nearby areas. Students benefited from water facilities, essential equipment, and scholarships awarded at Gomal University’s Tank Campus.
He also revived sports and culture. Events such as the Tank Festival, horse-riding shows, and youth tournaments engaged the community. To encourage participation, his administration distributed sports gear to local clubs.
Furthermore, polio vaccination campaigns successfully reached thousands of children. Community jirgas and consultative meetings strengthened ties between citizens and the administration.
In conclusion, civil society called public service in Tank a turning point. Residents credited Tanveer Khan for delivering clean water, healthcare, roads, education, and law enforcement. Above all, they praised his commitment to ensuring government resources reached the people without discrimination.
