Islamabad – March 19, 2026: Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), operating as Ufone, has officially entered Pakistan’s 5G market, securing the largest share of the globally recognized 3500 MHz frequency band, a critical component of 5G connectivity. Pending regulatory approvals, the planned merger with Telenor Pakistan will create a combined entity, MergeCo, which will hold the largest spectrum portfolio in Pakistan, ensuring leading-edge digital services across the country.
The new MergeCo will control a diversified spectrum portfolio of 292.4 MHz, which includes low, mid, and high-frequency bands, placing it ahead of its competitors. With this extensive portfolio, MergeCo is poised to deliver exceptional data speeds and quality services to both individual consumers and businesses. PTML’s aggressive acquisition strategy for 5G, including additional 60 MHz in the 2600 MHz band, will enable faster data speeds and improve overall user experiences.

The 120 MHz contiguous spectrum secured by PTML will allow MergeCo to meet global standards, offering faster peak speeds, stable data throughput, and the ability to serve more concurrent users in urban environments. This will empower a new era of digital services, such as ultra-HD streaming, cloud gaming, augmented reality, and virtual reality applications.
Beyond speed, MergeCo will also dominate nationwide coverage. The company has secured 44.8 MHz in low-frequency bands like 850 MHz and 900 MHz, enabling it to deliver reliable internet services to rural and semi-urban areas, ensuring consistent coverage and a superior user experience across Pakistan. The integration of Telenor Pakistan will further enhance the national 4G experience.
Hatem Bamatraf, President & CEO of PTCL & Ufone, commented on the milestone: “With PTML’s acquisition of the largest share of the 3.5 GHz spectrum, we are set to redefine speed and performance benchmarks in Pakistan. Following the merger with Telenor Pakistan, we will hold the largest spectrum share in the market, enabling us to deliver unparalleled speed, coverage, and digital experiences for our customers.”
This strategic move positions MergeCo to offer a high-quality 5G experience, continuing Ufone’s legacy as a Pakistani brand committed to connecting and empowering communities across the country.
