Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar said that the ongoing negotiations are the same as those with the government and that they will submit two written demands to the government on January 16. According to Express News, who spoke to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar said judges sometimes delay rulings because they need time to write them. “We were informed yesterday that a decision would be made,” he added. He further mentioned that Imran Khan was told to arrive at 9 am and once his lawyers arrived he would introduce himself. “Since I have been in this prison, no trial has started before 11:00 a.m.,” noted attorney Gohar. Barrister Gohar emphasized that no agreement had been reached. “If there was such an agreement, we would not hide it from the public. The negotiations are the same as those with the government.” Asked about the recent meeting between the Army Chief and Ali Amin Gandapur, Barrister Gohar explained that such meetings are held, especially on law and order situations, and that it is essential to maintain a working relationship. Lawyer Gohar yesterday dismissed speculation that the delay in sentencing party founder Imran Khan was due to collusion. Barrister Gohar clarified that the decision was deferred by the judge at his discretion and not due to any negotiation or political agreement, “We were waiting here in Adiala today but the court staff informed us that the decision will now be announced on January 17,” Barrister Gohar said. He added that the approach of the courts was inappropriate and that the cases against Imran Khan were fabricated to put pressure on the PTI founder. Barrister Gohar further stated that any rumors of a deal were unfounded. PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife and sister have distanced themselves from the negotiation process between the party’s negotiating committee and the federal government. A PTI source told The Express Tribune that the PTI founder had clearly directed the party’s negotiation committee to contact the government committee and deal with it as per its instructions. The source said PTI founder’s wife Bushra Bibi and his sister Aleema Khan have been in touch with the negotiating committee and are giving their suggestions. This put the committee in the difficult position of who to follow.
