ISLAMABAD: A meeting has been scheduled between members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. According to sources, PTI National Assembly members will meet the Speaker at his House at 3 pm today to express their concern over the proposed constitutional changes. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar was talking to the media outside the Parliament House. He noted that the meeting was held on September 2 and party MPs were given instructions. He added that a directive had been issued to members advising them not to vote individually. He further stated that a complete file of the proceedings of the House Committee and letters to the members of the Senate and the National Assembly had been submitted to the office of the Speaker of the Parliament. Late last night, a PTI delegation led by Advocate Gohar and comprising Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and Sahibzada Hamid Raza met Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The delegation tried to convince Maulana Fazlur Rehman not to support the constitutional changes. Maulana Fazlur Rehman replied that he disagreed with the government’s proposals and submitted his own proposals. He indicated that he is not in favor of extending the terms of office and is consulting with his legal team.
