Islamabad: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is ready to hold talks with all.
“PTI founders have formed a committee to hold talks and we are ready for talks,” the opposition leader said.
He was addressing the media in Islamabad on Thursday.
He said that official talks with the NA speaker had not yet started, but that he was only visiting to mourn the death of his sister.
“It would be good for everyone if the NA Speaker plays a positive role in facilitating dialogue between the government and the opposition,” said Ayub.
It is believed that the founder of PTI has formed a strong committee empowered to take all decisions on issues.
“Now they have realized that PTI cannot be suppressed. “The country cannot progress without political dialogue,” he said.
The PTI said it wanted the release of all political prisoners and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 riots.
Earlier, PTI chief Barrister Gohar urged the National Assembly to resolve the political issues in the May 9 incident and said there is a need for dialogue and accountability.
Barrister Gohar approached the lower house and said, “Enough! We demand a fair resolution of the injustice against us. This council should be a platform for dialogue. We have formed a dialogue committee that should not be mistaken as a sign of weakness,” he said.
He warned that failure to find a solution through dialogue would leave the party with no choice but to return to the streets to protest.
