Peshawar: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has said that his party is willing to cooperate with other political forces to launch a joint campaign against the Shehbaz Sharif-led government.
The incumbent government and the former ruling party have been at loggerheads for months, with the Imran Khan-led PTI accusing the administration of stealing its mandate and saying the former PTI was involved in anti-state activities.
In late November, PTI gained momentum when it held a protest rally in Islamabad’s D-Chowk, which led to a crackdown by law enforcement and the registration of several cases against party leaders.
“We are in touch with [JUI-F chief] Maulana Fazlur Rehman. We are going to launch a joint action against the government,” Qaiser told the media in Peshawar.
The PTI leader also accused the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of being involved in the events that took place on November 26. He said the government has not engaged with the PTI but is open to discussions on the party’s demands.
Kaiser said PTI is ready to continue its struggle within the framework of the constitution and laws. He criticized the government for declaring political officials as terrorists, ignoring the threat posed by militants.
Noting the dire law and order situation in the country, the former Speaker of the National Assembly said the government is targeting the PTI instead of addressing the real security issues.
He also informed that on December 15, a ceremony to honor the martyrs will be held at Bagh-e-Naranda.
He condemned the government for using force against “peaceful citizens” and shooting unarmed people.
Moreover, Kaiser described the passage of the 26th constitutional amendment as unconstitutional and reiterated PTI’s demand to release all “political prisoners”.
‘Fake Product’
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Advisor Barrister Muhammad Saif said that many cases have been filed against PTI founders in Punjab and Islamabad.
In his statement, Barrister Saif said that 99 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against PTI founders in Punjab, 74 of which have been lodged in Islamabad.
KP CM’s counsel asked why these cases were registered after the PTI founder’s arrest and how a jailed person could have committed a crime.
He claimed to have significant concern for Khan’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership and described himself as “nervous”.
Saif praised the PTI founder for taking seriously all the “implantation cases” filed against him. He expressed confidence in the day when all these frivolous lawsuits would be abolished.
