SHANGLA: A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation led by provincial spokesman and former provincial minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai met veteran political figure Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman at his hujra in Koza Alpurai and invited him to join the party.
According to PTI leaders, Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman, who recently resigned from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), accepted the invitation and expressed his willingness to join PTI. A formal joining ceremony is expected to be held soon.
The delegation included PTI leader Nawaz Mahmood Khan, District President Liaqat Ali Yousafzai, District Senior Vice President Habib-ur-Rehman Toofan, Insaf Youth Wing President Shahid Khan, former Village Council Alpurai chairman Badar Munir, Muhammad Zaman Chacha, former nazim Ali Baz Khan and other party leaders, workers, elders and youth from Basi, Alpurai and Ghorband.
Political Situation in Shangla Discussed
During the meeting, the participants discussed the political situation in Shangla, local issues facing residents and future political activities in the district.
PTI leaders formally invited Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman to join the party and its political activities. He thanked the delegation and said he would make a formal announcement about his decision soon, according to the party representatives.
PTI leaders said the party would continue direct engagement with workers and the public and maintain political contacts with other local personalities.
Long Association With PML-N
Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman is a local political and social figure from the Koza Alpuri area of Shangla’s district headquarters, Alpurai. According to the PTI statement, he remained associated with the PML-N for more than three decades and held responsibilities in the local government system.
His recent resignation from the PML-N and stated intention to join PTI have drawn attention in Shangla’s local political scene.
The claims regarding his decision and the planned joining ceremony were made by PTI leaders following the meeting.
