After calling for the protest PTI has once again claimed that it will not hold any talks with the establishment or the government before the November 24 protest, while Rana Sana ullah says that Prime Minister Shehbaz offered talks to PTI, but this is not part of Imran Khan’s politics.
Due to this situation, the masses have become more hesitant because they are being crushed in the fight between two elephants. In that regard, Sheikh Waqas Akram has said that his party will not hold talks with the government or the establishment before its scheduled nationwide protest this weekend.
It may be recalled that the detained PTI founder Imran Khan last week called his supporters to protest in Islamabad. Meanwhile, his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry after meeting him in Adiala Jail, said that Imran Khan says this is the last call for the protest. The PTI founder has stressed that the entire leadership of the party will be part of the march.
According to media reports, the party has made four demands, including repealing the 26th Constitutional Amendment, restoring democracy and the constitution, returning the people’s mandate, and releasing all innocent political prisoners.
In this regard some observers say that PTI’s protest is not a big deal for the government and the opposition will not benefit from it. In response, Akram said that Sana ullah was earlier saying that they would not be able to cross the Attock Bridge, but we did so, thus PTI should not be taken lightly. Prime minister’s especial assistant Sana ullah said that PTI’s call is not a challenge for the government. Their position is that the party gave the call for protest without doing its homework and this call will backfire and cause a lot of damage to the party.
The Prime Minister offered political dialogue to the PTI, but talks were not included in the politics of the founder of the PTI. In this situation the current movement of the Tehreek-e-Insaf, whose real spirit is the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur is also making burning statements. In the meeting held at the CM House late last night, he raised slogans along with workers and MPAs.
Recently, the Prime Minister has called a meeting of the Apex Committee about which when he was asked he said that he will attend the high-level Apex Committee meeting. When he was asked whether he would discuss the PTI’s November 24 protest march and issues related to Imran Khan and his party, he said that I will not discuss politics. Nor do we need anyone’s permission for the protest march. However, when they would discuss the law and order situation and the National Action Plan then we will discuss the situation that is facing Imran Khan. He said that he will raise these issues. He revealed that he had been discussing these issues in previous apex body meetings.
He mentioned the ongoing tension between PTI and the establishment and said that this situation is not in anyone’s favor. He said that it is neither in the interest of PTI nor of Pakistan and the establishment, hence there is need to resolve such issues.
The Chief Minister spoke about the difficulties faced by PTI and its leadership. When asked about Imran Khan’s aggressive tone against the establishment and its top leadership, Gandapur was the first to deny it. But when reminded of the founding chairman, he said that when you put someone behind bars for such a long time, he will also speak.
The Chief Minister also expressed his concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation. Mentioning the sacrifices made by the army and other law enforcement agencies in the war against terrorism, he said that we respect their sacrifices for the people and the country. According to media reports, the apex committee will be briefed on the current security situation and the steps taken by the authorities to prevent terrorism.
Now, there has been an increase in terrorist incidents, especially in KP and Balochistan. In October alone, 48 terrorist attacks were reported, resulting in the death of 100 people. In such a situation, the PTI’s protest march towards Islamabad on November 24 is a cause of concern for the security agencies and therefore the top civil-military leadership is expected to discuss it. Now it remains to be seen which way the camel sits.
