PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced that it will move the High Court against the imposition of governor’s rule and emergency measures.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said the party was preparing to file a petition in the High Court challenging both measures.

He said PTI would continue its constitutional and legal struggle and remained committed to an independent democratic system and an independent judiciary.

Barrister Gohar termed the removal of an elected government and the subsequent imposition of emergency measures and governor’s rule illegal.

The development comes two days after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary for the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
