ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Ufone have congratulated the Pakistan national field hockey team after it secured qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup following a semifinal victory over Japan national field hockey team in the qualifiers.

The achievement marks Pakistan’s return to the global hockey tournament after an eight-year gap and is seen as an important milestone in the revival of the country’s national sport.

PTCL and Ufone have supported Pakistan hockey for the past one and a half years as main partners of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). The companies said their backing began well before the team’s recent successes, reflecting confidence in the potential of the national side and the legacy of Pakistan hockey.

During this period, Pakistan hockey has recorded several notable results, including winning a bronze medal at the Asian Champions Trophy and finishing as runners-up at the FIH Nations Cup.

Officials said the latest World Cup qualification demonstrates the team’s progress in international competition and reflects the players’ determination and resilience.

PTCL and Ufone reiterated their commitment to continue supporting the PHF and the national team as part of broader efforts to promote hockey across the country and help restore Pakistan’s historic standing in the sport.

The organizations also extended their best wishes to the team as it prepares to compete in the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup.
