PTCL warns of internet slowdowns across Pakistan from May 11 to 18

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has warned users about possible internet slowdowns and service disruption during evening hours from May 11 to May 18 due to maintenance work on an international submarine cable.

In a statement posted on X, PTCL said the repair work was being carried out by the International Cable Consortium to fix a fault in one of the company’s submarine cable systems.

The company said internet users across Pakistan could experience degraded services, particularly during peak evening hours while the maintenance activity continues.

PTCL operates three undersea fibre-optic cable systems that connect Pakistan to the global internet network. Faults in submarine cables have previously led to nationwide internet slowdowns and connectivity issues.

Internet disruptions linked to cable faults remain a recurring issue in Pakistan, affecting businesses, remote workers, students and social media users.
