ISLAMABAD, August 7, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended the week on a negative note as the benchmark KSE-100 Index fell by more than 346 points on Friday amid broad-based selling pressure.
The KSE-100 Index closed at 181,430.02 points, down 346.57 points, or 0.19%, from the previous close of 181,776.60, reflecting a cautious trading session despite gains in selected heavyweight stocks.
Market Capitalisation, Trading Activity Decline
Trading activity also slowed compared with the previous session.
The ready market recorded a volume of 716.04 million shares, down from 793.35 million shares on Thursday, while the value of traded shares declined to Rs34.10 billion from Rs40.31 billion.
Meanwhile, the market capitalisation of listed companies slipped to Rs20.238 trillion, compared with Rs20.264 trillion a day earlier.
Majority of Stocks Close in the Red
Out of 492 companies traded in the ready market, 207 advanced, 260 declined, while 25 remained unchanged, indicating a predominantly bearish sentiment across the market.
The decline came after Thursday’s strong rally, when the benchmark index climbed to a new closing high, making Friday’s session largely a round of profit-taking in several sectors.
Cnergyico Tops Volume Chart
Cnergyico PK remained the most actively traded stock with 161.18 million shares, followed by Bank of Punjab with 52.33 million shares and Wasl Mobility Mod with 24.22 million shares.
Among the day’s top gainers, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited added Rs139 to close at Rs25,350, while Thal Industries Corporation Limited gained Rs70.49, ending the session at Rs1,476.87.
On the downside, PIA Holding Company Limited B lost Rs47.60 to settle at Rs17,848.40, while Tandlianwala Sugar Mills Limited declined Rs33.14 to Rs576.30.
Futures Market Also Ends Lower
Activity in the Deliverable Futures Contracts (DFC) market also moderated.
Turnover stood at 162.57 million shares worth Rs7.49 billion, compared with 189.93 million shares valued at Rs9.41 billion in the previous trading session.
Of the 305 companies traded in the futures market, 112 recorded gains, 188 declined, while five remained unchanged.
