PSX gains 356 points as banks, energy and cement stocks rally

KARACHI, Tuesday, September 22, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its upward momentum on Tuesday, September 22, as the benchmark KSE-100 Index gained more than 350 points amid buying interest in banking, energy, cement and other key sectors.

The KSE-100 Index rose 356.09 points, or 0.21%, to 171,509.25 points, building on gains recorded in the previous trading session.

During the session, the benchmark index moved between an intraday high of 171,680.73 points and a low of 171,372.29 points, while trading volume in the index stood at 48.85 million shares.

Buying activity was recorded across several major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, power generation and refineries.

Several heavyweight stocks traded in positive territory and supported the benchmark index.

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL), Hub Power Company (HUBCO), Mari Energies (MARI), Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC), Pakistan Oilfields (POL), Habib Bank Limited (HBL), MCB Bank, Meezan Bank (MEBL) and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) were among the prominent stocks contributing to the market’s advance.

KSE-100 extends previous session’s gains

Tuesday’s rise followed another positive session for the stock market.

The KSE-100 Index had gained 268.58 points, or 0.16%, on Monday, closing at 171,153.17 points.

The benchmark has therefore added 624.67 points across the two sessions, reflecting continued buying interest in selected heavyweight sectors.

Investors will continue to watch movements in banking, energy, cement and other index-heavy stocks for direction in upcoming trading sessions.
